Not one Less essays
Not one Less expositions The film Not One Less coordinated by Zhang Yimou is an enthusiastic show set in a remote Chinese town of Shuiquan. Not One Less delineates the way of life and state of youngsters in provincial piece of China who have exceptionally scant access to essential instruction. These youngsters are without textbooks, chalks and most significant instructed and experienced instructors; in short they are the most deplorable kids in China. The significant piece of this film was unforgiving and corrupting. With the exemptions of a couple of the schoolchildren and the first educator Gao, the entertainers were spurred without anyone else, Teacher Wei essentially composed the exercises on the chalkboard and afterward limited the youngsters in the study hall until they had duplicated their exercises down, all since she was assume to get paid 50 Yuan to keep kids in school and keep them occupied. Indeed, even the chairman of the town needed to pay off devilish understudy Zhang Huike to get some answers concerning quick sprinter Ming Xinhong with the goal that he could send her to city sports school. One thing truly got my attention was the blamelessness of kids who were helping Teacher Wei gather enough cash with the goal that she can drive to city and bring back Zhang Huike simultaneously they were learning math by attempting to ascertain how much cash she is going to should have the option to bring him back. Chief Yimou is wistful and enthusiastic, when the young man was asked what he would recollect the most about his involvement with the city, the kid said unobtrusively, That I had to ask for food. This film indicated the genuine substance of rustic pieces of China, the neediness and honesty in eyes of little youngsters, who are compelled to stop school and work at youthful age to help pay for their family obligations. Not One Less is a delicate and passionate film, which genuinely makes hearts cry. ... <!

In The Snake Song, we consider the to be sort of subject as in Willing Slave, when a youthful Talkative Man wants to become well off sometime in the not so distant future, by being a performer. The Talkative Man is poor and doing everything he can to endure, so he can improve a life for himself. The one situation that is going to keep him down is his childishness, and his reluctance to help another person that is in need whom he dismisses. He was incredibly narcissistic and one night he dismissed a man that required help. The manââ¬â¢s hunger was the reason for The Talkative Manââ¬â¢s disturbance. His dismissal was pointless since the homeless person had lauded The Talkative Manââ¬â¢s creative expertise and just needed food. Conversely, the old Ayah shows up as a deferential individual that is ââ¬ËHellbentââ¬â¢ on satisfying her lords paying little heed to their social position or age. Messing around with the kid, Radha, was a case of the degree Ayah would go to pacify the family. The succession of occasions portraying Ayahââ¬â¢s readiness to fulfill every single solicitation made by others is an un-wonderful perusing for some individuals, on the grounds that Ayahââ¬â¢s bondage can be seen in different regions other than India and in different circles of presence. ââ¬ËA willing Slaveââ¬â¢ creates pity.

We will write a custom essay sample on My Society or any similar topic only for you Order Now There would be so many changes to the world that we live in today. The idea behind my society is to bring people together and understand other cultures and what their beliefs, ideas, and norms are. These changes will be explained in full details in the allowing paragraphs. We will begin with the physical features and geographical location of this place. My ideal world would take place on an island called La Islam Diverse. It would be located somewhere between west coast of the United States and the coast of Asia. The name would come from the word diverse, which would suit the inhabitants of the island. La Islam Diverse would be made up of sand, palm trees, plants, mountains and houses made from the wood/leafs from the palm trees themselves. The Island would be about the same size of Texas and would be made up of about 100-150 Inhabitants. Much of the land would be unexplored and be available for the Inhabitants to go out and explore. The temperature on the La Islam Diverse would be the same year-round. During the day the temperature would vary between 80-90 degrees, and at night the temperature would drop to the assââ¬â¢s. There would be days when itââ¬â¢s cloudy and rainy but the temperature would remain the same. The sun rises every morning at am and it will go down at pm. La Islam Diverse would be such a beautiful place with beautiful weather, features, and also the people abroad the island. Up to now you may have questions and wonder whatââ¬â¢s so different bout this Island than any other Island. The secret behind this Island is that it is an island where marijuana Is grown and cultivated by the Inhabitants as their Job. With Marijuana beginning to legalize in the United States, the Inhabitants live on this island rent free to work growing marijuana for the government. The Inhabitants have previously received training and certifications for the cultivation of this plant. These people live abroad La Islam Diverse along with their families to grow marijuana that will later be sold in the united States. The island is ruled by the united States overspent and these inhabitants are paid extremely good money for what they do. The Island is protected by the united States Marine Corps, with absolutely no problems abroad the island. The people work form Imam-pm at various and specific locations spread across the island. La Islam Diverse is an island that only selected people may live abroad. These people are selected by the government to travel to this island for up to a year with their family and where everything is provided. The families aboard this Island are fed, and taken care by through deferent institutions set up by the government. Nothing is paid for out of pocket by any of the Inhabitants, everything Is provided to them. One of the requirements before leaving the states and traveling to La Islam Delvers Is that you leave all monetary values home; any money found aboard the island will be confiscated. There are many rules and in that person and their family being sent back to the states. Some of these rules include things such as: No reproduction will take place on La Islam Diverse, People found smuggling or smoking Marijuana aboard the island will be automatically be kicked off the island, and if any person is accused of committing a crime this will be enough to kick the person off the island. There are no doctors or hospitals aboard the island therefore any person who gets sick and is unable to perform the daily functions of the Job will be sent back to the states for proper medical attention. As far as the economy on La Islam Diverse, there isnââ¬â¢t one. The people come onto this island under contract to work for a year and eligibility for an extension depending on their work quality. Everything is paid for while you and your family live on the island food, clothes, and any other necessity. At the end of your year the government will advise you of your eligibility to return for another year, itââ¬â¢s up to inhabitant to decide if he was to continue to work for another year. If he does not want to return or is simply not eligible to return they along with the family will be returned back to their lives in the states. Upon leaving the island the government cuts the family a check for a significant amount for their labor aboard the island. The island is not dominated by one race or culture. The name of the island reflects the people of the island. Diversity is the most important and key behind this society. The goal of the overspent is to bring people from as many different cultures and races with many different beliefs, ideas, and norms to this island to integrate and see how people are able to adapt and work with each other. With nowhere to go and having to live on an island with many people you are forced to adapt and get to know how other people work and are required to be able to work with these individuals. Any act of racism or hate crime towards any other inhabitant of the island automatically gets you kicked off and banned off the island with no pay. Of course there will be problems on the island because people with different views will have conflicts as their ideas will clash but the idea is being able to come together and work as one. After a serious offense is when people will be punished and even kicked off the island. There is a process that must be gone through to be eligible to live on La Islam Diverse. First, a person must apply through a website after filling out a lengthy application the person is given an aptitude test based on diversity. The government will base the test results and choose people that are qualified for the position, and bring them in for a face to ace interview. During the interview they will find out more about the applicant and ask further questions regarding cultures and race. If the applicant is qualified after the interview he will be given a background package that needs to be returned within two weeks. When the background check comes back and if the applicant has no prior criminal charges and no history that would disqualify him/her they get added to a list. The person if not certified to grow and cultivate marijuana must take and complete a seminar within a month of being accepted. Since the island is only able to eave a maximum occupancy of 150 inhabitants, the people that are hired and go through the process are put on a list that. As peopleââ¬â¢s years are up on the island these people are replaced by the qualified people on the list. The process is lengthy but the right steps are taken to choose the right people to work on La Islam Diverse with no problems. Once on La Islam Diverse there are many things to do besides sightseeing. There are many boats, and Jet skis that families are able to reserve and rent for fun. There are many parks for families to bring their kids and integrate them with other different cultures and races. On the weekends no one works so it is used as time to come together with the other inhabitants and their families and become educated on diversity. The island is always safe as no intruders are allowed onto the island and the coasts are patrolled by the Marine Corps. Any problems aboard the island are also handled and situated by the Marine Corps. This island is not Just created for people to come and work, the main focus of the island is that families use it as a tool and also an eye opening experience to learn about other cultures, beliefs, and norms of the other inhabitants on this island. In conclusion, my society and ideal world would be an experiment focused on the idea of integrating people and having them come together to work together. Our world today is not aware of the millions of other people and beliefs of these people that exist today. La Islam Diverse is a form of education for people to understand cultures, beliefs, and norms of other people in the world today. When people are hired they are not told that they will be living with people from different backgrounds with different beliefs than them. It is the Job of the person to be able to adapt to the changes and having to open up and earn about the other people aboard the island. The ideal situation is that people are able to adapt and work with other people at the same time learning and being open to changes and understanding that not everyone functions the same way. My society would be an experiment but a way for people to integrate while growing and working together to produce a drug that has been known to be able to bring people together. The best part of this whole experiment is that you make a significant amount of money if youââ¬â¢re able to adapt and come together and fulfill your requirement of at least on year. How to cite My Society, Papers

Women and the Glass Ceiling an Example by
Women and the Glass Ceiling The term glass ceiling actually pertains to the situations in which the advancement of an individual within the hierarchy of the organization is constrained. The constraint is usually based on some form of discrimination such as prejudice or racial discrimination. It is referred to as a ceiling because the constraint blocks ones rise in the ranks. The word glass has been appended to illustrate transparency which means that the constraint is not immediately noticeable and is likewise not written or stipulated in the policies of the organization. The glass ceiling is set apart from the other barriers to advancements such as requirements concerning education or experience. Need essay sample on "Women and the Glass Ceiling" topic? We will write a custom essay sample specifically for you Proceed The analogy of the glass ceiling was employed to demonstrate the alleged condition that enables women and minorities to achieve only minor positions and keeps them from advancing to the top positions in the highest levels of the corporate world. For most people, the issue of the glass ceiling is an extension and an evidence of gender and racial discrimination and as such, should be counteracted by the implementation of affirmative action laws. Indeed, the phrase glass ceiling is frequently used in reference to the access of women to upper management; this is likewise extended to other groups such as racial or ethnic minorities or based on the age of the individual. Women are actually overlooked or by-passed when considering employees for the top management positions because of the fact that occupying these top positions entails either forsaking or subordinating almost all aspects of life in favor of ones career. The level of responsibility as well as the finances would require people in top positions to input an average of seventy to eighty hours a week, demanding for their complete attention and dedication to overseeing the needs and operations of the business that they are handling. As a result, this means less time available to spend with ones family, social life, and recreation or relaxation. At this point, one may be able to recognize that in the current societies, more men than women are willing to commit themselves in these circumstances and to respond to the demands of the corporate environment because women have other domestic responsibilities and matters to attend to such as taking care of their growing children and others. It is also common among societies all over the world that the husbands are the ones who work full-time while the wives work only part-time so they can attend to domestic matters. In addition to this, women also have higher likelihoods of mood swings and absenteeism due to pregnancy, dysmenorrhea, and other reasons than their male counterparts. In this case, there is apparently a glass ceiling for females in the corporate world. However, the bases cited above mean that the ceiling is not there solely as a result of gender discrimination but also a result of the differences in priorities set by the males from the females. This glass ceiling may be alleviated or eradicated if women are willing to sacrifice more time and their families in favor of climbing up the corporate ladder. Another good example of this is in the medical or health field, nursing used to be a predominantly female profession but now there is a constant rise in the number of male nurses. Prejudice and womens rights advocates argue that this is a case of glass ceiling or gender bias. However, a closer look and research would reveal that many of the female nurses especially those who are married or who have families actually prefer part-time positions voluntarily over full-time positions. The reason for this is that they want to spend more time at home, attending to their husbands and being there to watch their children grow and not wanting to miss the early years and rapid changes. For some female nurses including those who are single, they also prefer to have more free time to either relax or engage in activities that they enjoy doing. This indicates that glass ceiling has been forged as a consequence of voluntary choices on the part of the women and not only because of prejudice. In the same manner, most women who are working could actually afford to forego or put their high-powered business careers on second priorities in favor of the advantages that a flexible working schedule could offer them. Women who have husbands and children prefer to invest a greater fraction of their time and effort in raising their families and attending to their homes while those who are unattached or uncommitted have tendencies to seek more time and opportunities for non-monetary personal development. As a result of these voluntary choices and preferences of women, they work fewer hours than their male counterparts which mean less job experiences. In addition, women also tend to avoid work positions that are risky or unpleasant; these jobs are actually the high-paying jobs. These are the reasons why women are said to get less pay in work than men: because they work less hours, have less job experiences, and prefer less risky jobs. Companies that cultivate a negative outlook around promoting women to higher level positions also risk the repercussions of dwindling profits. For one, there is the tendency to overlook the capacity of women and as such, the company misses out on a good employee that could have been indispensable and valuable to the companys success. Another possible reason for this is that when other people hear about this, there is a tendency for them not to support the company anymore in its endeavors because they are turned off by the companys treatment of their women employees. Pbx Hybrid Networks Essays - Telephone Exchanges, Avaya, Voicemail
Pbx Hybrid Networks Essays - Telephone Exchanges, Avaya, Voicemail Pbx Hybrid Networks PBX and Key/Hybrid Systems PBX and Key systems are the wave of communication for business everywhere. The key difference between PBX and Key/Hybrid systems are the amount of stations each can handle. Key systems are designed for clients with very small line size requirements and very basic needs. It usually handles between 16 to 48 stations. PBX systems on the other hand handle a lot more stations as well as more features and sophistication. PBX are designed for larger corporations and cost much more than a simple key system communication need. Another key advantage of PBX system is it allows for room for corporation growth over the years than that of a Key System or Hybrid system. An example of a PBX system and some of its features is the Fujitsu BCS Series 3:1 Model Series 3 Product Type Digital PBX FCC Registration Numbers (Key) BJ885Z-60084-KF-E; (Hybrid) BJ8USA-60083-MF-E (PBX) BJ8USA-75355-PF-E Date Announced July 1993 Number of Systems Installed Approximately 2,375 + Line Capacity 480 Port Capacity 588 Trunk Capacity 4 to 240 (dependent on # of lines configured) Simultaneous Calls Possible 294 Traffic Capacity (BHCAs) 10,000 Switching Matrix TDM Main System CPU Fujitsu proprietary 8-bit or 16-bit CPU H5H5 Component Redundancy Not available Amt. of Main System Memory 1.5MB ISDN Support PRI only (BRI not available) T-Carrier Support Direct T1 interface Wireless Support SpectraLink WTS Voice Messaging Support Fujitsu TranSend/TranSend Lite unified messaging platform; Fujitsu's IVS voice messaging platform; or various third-party voice mail solutions. The price rang of the phones of each line are between 300 and 500 dollars per line with a basic package of 6500 for the TransSend unified messaging platform. An example of a functioning Key/Hybrid System is the Lucent Merlin Legend. A couple features of this key system are:2 Digital key/hybrid/PBX/behind-Centrex system H2H2 Date Announced August 1991 Date Installed October 1991 FCC Registration Numbers KeyAS593M-72914-KF-E; multifunction hybridAS593M-72682-MF-E H3H3 Target Market Small- to medium-sized businesses General Specifications Digital Station Capacity 200 Line Capacity 80 Simultaneous Calls Possible 108 Switching Matrix Time division Type of Processor Centralized 68000 microprocessor Type/Amount of Main Memory (bytes) 896K RAM Port Capacity 280 As you can tell the system is can not handle as much as the PBX system but for small business the Merlin Legend is a perfect fit. The price of the key/hybrid system the basic Merlin Legend Release 7.0 module retails for US$1,494. As you can tell that is a steep difference in price between the two. In conclusion when comparing the key system and PBX you compromise the features and price. With the PBX of the Fujitsu you spend so much more money but you get a lot of different features as well as the ablility to grow and become a bigger corporation with larger features. The Key system just leaves you with the bare requirements for your small business

The New Central Planning Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4500 words - 1
The New Central Planning - Essay Example Pitched to a general audience, "The Federal Reserve and the Financial Crisis" is part of the chairman's praiseworthy effort to increase Fed transparency.Ã The first two lectures cover the origins and history of the Fed. Mr. Bernanke identifies three primary functions of central banks: to conduct monetary policy (i.e., controlling of the supply of money by setting interest rates); to serve as lenders of last resort (i.e., providing liquidity for important institutions to stave off financial crises); and to regulate the financial system (i.e., limiting the risks that banks and other players in financial markets may take). Yet he hardly discusses the quantity of money in circulation or the Feds effect on it. The omission reflects the fact that Mr. Bernanke has dramatically altered the nature of central banking. Under his management, the Fed now tries to determine to which sectors the economy's savings flow, and monetary policy has become solely about setting interest rates.Ã To his credit, Mr. Bernanke considers the merits of the classical gold standard, in which the dollar was fully redeemable for a specific quantity of gold. He believes that its gains in long-run price stability were more than counterbalanced by the short-run economic fluctuations it caused. But as University of Georgia economist George Selgin pointed out after the lectures were delivered, the chairmans argument against the gold standard suffers from some severe weaknesses. For starters, it ignores the path-breaking research of Christina Romer, former chairman of President Obamas Council of Economic Advisers, which demonstrated that the frequency and severity of recessions werent significantly greater before the Feds creation in 1913 than after World War II. This casts doubt on the ability of the Fed with its fiat money to tame the business cycle any better than did the gold standard without the Feds intrusions.

Individual freedon(see instruction below) - Essay Example l choice of a person but also to social safety because drug addicts tend to eventually demonstrate complete of partial defeat of consciousness that is often accompanied by physical degeneration and at the end leads to complete isolation and death. Very rarely (only in 5-10% of all cases) drug addicts manage to recover completely. The statistical data show that the results of rehabilitation programs throughout the world can hardly be called optimistic: around 90% of drug addicts who had been detoxified are back to taking drugs. When people who abuse substances become dependant on them, they are guided by the constant desire to take the drug, which sometimes causes them to commit crimes ââ¬â and this certainly endangers the society. Drug addicts are usually subdivided into two categories: functional and non-functional, the first group being able to live a more or less normal social life sustaining their addiction for years: ââ¬Å"Their lives are not made totally unmanageable by it so they dont tend to drop out of society.â⬠(The long walk to freedom 2001) Psychologist Dan Wolf comes up with the following examples when talking about the functional drug addicts: ââ¬Å"the housewife who cant relax without Valium, the ad executive who canââ¬â¢t keep up without his cocaine, or the friend who canââ¬â¢t socialize unless she has a drink or a joint in her hand.â⬠(The long walk to freedom 2001) Non-functional addicts are people whose personalities and lives are partially or completely destroyed by the drug. Non-functional drug offenders pose the main danger to the society as they are very likely to become inadequate. Apart from being non-productive members of the society, they are likely to commit crimes, and even though legally they remain citizens of the state, in fact they only bring damage to the community they live in. Drug addiction is often called an ââ¬Å"illnessâ⬠of the entire society destroying it from within. Except from criminal threats, drug addicts very often suffer

Res 351
Preparing to Conduct Business Research: Part 3 RES/351 February 20, 2012 Age discrimination is existent. Older employees are defined as members of the ââ¬Å"matureâ⬠generation (58 or more years old); younger employees are members of three generationsââ¬âthe Baby Boom (post World War II or 38 ââ¬â 57 year olds), Generation X (23 ââ¬â 37 year olds), and Generation Y (18 ââ¬â 22 year olds). The key to a companyââ¬â¢s future success will be its adaptability ââ¬â its capacity to deploy resources quickly to seize competitive opportunities and to draw from a labor pool that features a mix of multi-skilled, full-time workers, and specifically-skilled, contingent employees who contribute on a part-time or temporary basisâ⬠(Hall and Mirvis, 1998). Research is conducted when individuals or businesses want to find out the connection, if any, between two or more things. This paper will discuss, ââ¬Å"Will hiring younger employees to take the place of older emp loyees increase the productivity of a business? We will be discussing the different aspects of finding a solution to this very question. We are going to focus on four areas within our research. They will be broken down by significance, scope, magnitude, and feasibility of finding a solution to our question. We will discuss how using these different aspects of our research will help us determine the purpose of conducting our research. Working in businesses in which you have to make life changing decisions can be stressful. Factors to consider with this topic are age, experience, knowledge, and productivity. The final solution will impact current employees and potential new hires; therefore, businesses need to be fair in the decision(s) being made and make sure it is in the best interest of all parties involved. Businesses must examine every aspect of a situation to avoid discrimination lawsuits, loss of business, or an increase in employee turnover. Overall, happy employees will produ ce an efficient workflow and exhibit a more positive attitude toward the company as well. ââ¬Å"The two criteria to judge feasibility are cost required and value to be attainedâ⬠(Wikipedia. com). Many solutions can be prepared for various situations within a business environment. However, each solution needs to be logical and suitable for the situation. Businesses should test possible solutions to see which one will be the most beneficial by using feasibility studies. ââ¬Å"Feasibility studies aim to objectively and rationally uncover the strengths and weaknesses of the existing business or proposed venture, opportunities and threats as presented by the environment, the resources required to carry through, and ultimately the prospects for successâ⬠(Wikipedia. om). The magnitude of finding a solution to the issue of whether or not hiring younger employees will increase productivity is very high. The business needs to continue to make a profit in this economy and if hirin g young people is the solution, it is imperative that we make sure the solution is found. This task should not be difficult, however, as long as the decision making process is followed. We created research questions, a hypothesis, decided on what the variables are, and considered the ethical complications.Following legal guidelines and the process of finding the solution will help us get to the right answer. The magnitude of finding the right answer is enormous since our business depends on it. Older workers are often liable to encounter difficulties in employment and occupation because of prejudices about their capacities and willingness to learn, a tendency to discount their experiences, and market pressures to hire younger workers who are often cheaper to employ. To increase productivity and eliminate discrimination when it comes to younger employees versus older employees, the following measures could be taken to have a more productive workplace: (1) Set up a policy establishing clear procedures on non-discrimination and equal opportunities; and communicate it amongst all employees, (2) Provide training at all levels of the organization, in particular for those involved in recruitment and selection, as well as supervisors and managers, to help raise awareness and encourage people to take action against discrimination, (3) Set measurable goals and specific time frames to achieve objectives, (4) Modify work organization and distribution of tasks as necessary to avoid negative effects on the treatment and advancement of particular groups of workers, and (5) Address complaints, handle appeals and provide recourse to employees in cases where discrimination is identified. To determine whether hiring younger versus older employees increase productivity in the workplace, there are a few questions that need to be researched in order to analyze the situation. (1) If we hire younger employees, will this be an open opportunity for a lawsuit for age discrimination? (2) W ill productivity increase, decrease, or stay the same with younger employees? (3) Will it be cost effective to hire younger people who may be entitled to more compensation? The employer who would decide to replace older workers with younger workers to increase productivity, with the thought younger people are more energetic, therefore could work faster than older people. The younger employees may be easier to train and retain information better than older employees. They may also look at the younger employees as being more comfortable with new and advanced technology. There are four variables to consider when it comes to making a decision about hiring the younger versus older employee. The variables are the independent variable, dependant variable, confounding variable, and the intervening variable. The independent variable is hiring younger employees to replace older employees. The dependent variable is the increase in productivity. The confounding variable is younger employees have fresh ideas. Lastly, the intervening variable is training the new employees. The research design that best suites how the information was researched was the Quasi-Experimental research. With using this particular research for our topic, the quasi-experiment treats a given situation as an experiment, even though it is not wholly by design. The independent variable may not be manipulated by the researcher, treatment and control groups may not be randomized or matched, or there may be no control group. The researcher is limited in what he or she can say conclusively. The significant element of quasi-experiments is the measure of the dependent variable, which it allows for comparison. Some data is quite straightforward, but other measures, such as level of self-confidence in writing ability, increase in creativity or in reading comprehension are obviously subjective. In such cases, uasi-experimentation often involves a number of strategies to compare subjectivity, such as rating data, t esting, surveying, and content analysis (Colorado State University. edu). One type of instrument that would be very useful in our research would be interviews. Interviews are a systematic way of communicating through talking and listening. ââ¬Å"Through the knowledge of conversation ââ¬Å"(KMExecutive, 2010), data can be collected on what new younger employees can bring to the organization, and how they feel they would better benefit the company over an experienced older employee. Within the interview, the interviewer and interviewee are able to become involved with talking about their views, and their perception and interpretation of the situation. With the use of interviews in the survey method, we can initially get some very valuable information necessary for finding the key to hiring new younger employees within the company to help boost productivity, without causing any legal issues or moral falls with the older employees. In the interview section of the survey, we will be abl e to find out from the new potential employees what they want to bring to the table to boost our needs. Also, by doing one-on-one interviews with the older employees, we will be able to find out what areas have become complacent and what areas do not need to be touched. This will allow for us to find out if we need to hire new employees, for which section(s), and which ones we are able to leave alone. This will definitely eliminate the unnecessary desire for older employees of these areas to retaliate against the company. Another instrument type we could use would be experiments. It would definitely benefit the organization to see if the new younger employees were able to provide the company with more production, especially if there is training involved. We would take the experimental variable (the younger verses the older) and put them to work side by side to see which one is more productive. This will give us an idea if we need to train more, or reconsider hiring new and getting ri d of the old. By developing the constants, the researchers can evaluate the effect of the changes to the production quality and quantity. We would be able to test the effectiveness, appeal, and sales of various products that the organization is planning on developing or selling.WE can divide the population into two groups, the younger group and the older group. In order to help solve the issue of whether or not hiring younger employees will increase the productivity in the workplace, we must take some samples. Samples help to determine which decision is the best. The type of sampling that will best suit this issue is probability, or random sampling. This will avoid any bias on the companyââ¬â¢s part. This ensures that the participants will be random and of all ages. Survey questionnaires will be used as a sampling frame within a 30 day period. Each person randomly selected will have to complete the survey questionnaire which will contain all of the information needed to make an i nformed decision. The sampling size will be determined by the amount of employees of the organization. While we cannot sample everyone we do want to give the issue a fair sampling size. We will want to sample the majority of them, around 75%. Therefore, if there are 20 employees, 15 will be sampled by using the survey questionnaire. ââ¬Å"A statistical test provides a mechanism for making quantitative decisions about a process or processes. The intent is to determine whether there is enough evidence to ââ¬Å"rejectâ⬠a conjecture or hypothesis about the process; the conjecture is called the null hypothesisâ⬠(itl. nist. gov). ââ¬Å"A set of data can only reject a null hypothesis or fail to reject it.For example, if comparison of two groups (e. g. : treatment, no treatment) reveals no statistically significant difference between the two, it does not mean that there is no difference in reality. It only means that there is not enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis ( in other words, the experiment fails to reject the null hypothesis)â⬠(wikipedia. com). Based the types of instruments used such as experiments and interviews, to collect data pertaining to our topic of choice, the best statistical test to use would be the t-test. ââ¬Å"The t-test assesses whether the means of two groups are statistically different from each other (socialresearchmethods. net). With our topic comparing the productivity among older employees versus younger employees, we can better determine if age does or does not play a significant factor in current or future workflow processes and the implementation of new creative ideas. The results will be displayed as ââ¬Å"the actual difference between two means in relation to the variation in the data (expressed as the standard deviation of the difference between the means)â⬠(biology. ed. ac. uk). In this case, the two means are the older employees and younger employees; the variation in the data would be the produc tivity of the workflow, whether it would increase, decrease, or remain the same.Everyone who wants to work should be able to and no one deserves to be judged by their age or any other factor that does not relate to their productivity (nytimes. com/2009). Considerations that should be taken into accountà when ità involves hiring a younger versus older employee are discrimination and stereotyping. The repercussions of age-based communication and productivity can be devastating to older employees; this could lead to a decline in their self esteem and mental well-being. Discriminating against older employees could also lead to lawsuits; which eventually has a bad look on the employers. The steps in performing any type of research is crucial for finding the right answer to any situation that may arise. With the issue of determining whether or not hiring younger employees to increase productivity, there is no answer. The quality of work and range of experience of one individual versus the next can make or break the moral of the employees in the workplace (Stanford). Therefore, changes in the workplace can be beneficial to the business as long as the basis does not conflict with business ethics. The significance of finding a solution is going to help eliminate the chances of having a lawsuit because of age discrimination. It will allow us to continue to grow as a business instead of losing business, and will help in decreasing employee turnover. Part of the significance is to create a happy work environment with a more productive workflow. The Scope of finding a solution is the investigation into what will happen and the plan of action to make it happen. Within the scope we can determine what the negatives and positives will come of the solution. Magnitude will allow the company to continue to grow by increasing the productivity, and if this can be done with younger employees, then we need to make the changes the right way to incorporate this for our organization. This will possibly be a significant change, so we need to be prepared to make adjustments so we do not lose any productivity in the process of making the change. The last part of our discussion takes us into the feasibility of finding the correct solutions to our issue. Here we discussed five ways to make this happen, such as create a policy for this type of situation, provide training for all levels to discourage discrimination, set goals to achieve objectives, make modifications to avoid negative effects of each group being changed, and address any complaints of discrimination that may have been founded earlier. Understanding our research process will help us determine the correct way to make the needed changes within the organization without the possibility of having severe repercussions. As an organization, it is important to do the needed research that will be certain to create more jobs in the future, and possibly prevent any lawsuits or discrimination acts in the process.
